FOOD.O.FILE #1: Lucky Strike Lanes - Chinatown, DC

i'll post now what will hopefully be the first of many to come, a restaurant review lovingly titled: FOOD.o.FILE.

Lucky Strike Lanes - Chinatown, DC
701 Seventh Street NW
Washington, DC 20001
ph 202-347-1021

- the Ranch w/BBQ sauce Chicken Bites were divine. just the right amount of crunch and crispiness that was complemented with a smothering of ranch. the bbq sauce was there for dipping, but i discovered it to be unnecessary as the chicken and ranch were flavorful enough. some of the chicken pieces were dry, but for the most part, they were faaaaan-tastic.

- the french fries were nice and fleshy, landing in a spot somewhere between Wendy's and McDonald's. and don't underestimate the description! - when they say "basket of fries", they really do mean it.

- i would NOT recommend the crunchy mashed potato rolls, as our order failed to live up to its name. rolled up mashed potato, sure, but crunchy? if by "crunchy" they meant "not crunchy", then yes, they were quite crunchy. the wrapper was too soft and doughy to go well with the mash insides. i must say, like many of the dresses on project runway, the idea was good, but the problem was in the execution.

- the chopped classic cobb salad seemed to get good reviews. i've learned that a true cobb salad should have avocado, and lucky strike's sure hit the mark. the portion was also decent for the price.

- other offerings include thai pizza, tomato & cheese s'mores, potato pizza pie, plus all the other typical bar/alley fare: burgers, onion rings, buffalo wings, etc.

RATING: not a turkey, strike or gutterball, lucky strike's food was good, but not perfect, so it picks up the spare. B+
